What happened
On November 26, 2024, at 23:33 UTC, an Airbus A330-200, registered as EC-MKJ, was performing a scheduled commercial passenger flight from Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport to Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Ezeiza). During the approach phase of the flight, the crew reported feeling an impact beneath the aircraft's cockpit area.
Despite the impact, the flight proceeded normally, and the aircraft landed at Ezeiza without further incident. Following the landing, the event was officially recorded in the technical flight logs as a bird strike.
The investigation
Following the occurrence, maintenance personnel conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft on the ground. While the inspection revealed a blood stain near the radome, investigators found no structural damage resulting from the impact.
Simultaneously, personnel from Aeropuertos Argentina, in coordination with ground control from the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC), performed a sweep of runway 11/29. The inspection of the airfield did not uncover any foreign object debris or remains from the strike.
