What happened
In 2018, the Dutch Safety Board investigated a variety of aviation occurrences, including 13 accidents and 18 serious incidents. The majority of these events involved general aviation aircraft. Notable incidents included a fatal crash of a Pipistrel Alpha Electro near Onstwedde, where the pilot was killed, and a fatal accident involving a Europa Aviation Limited Europa at Hilversum Airfield.
In the realm of serious incidents, several near-misses (airprox) were recorded. Two significant encounters occurred near the new Noordkop glider airfield involving an ASW 24 glider and an RV-12, as well as a Discus glider and a Cessna 182RG. Additionally, a near-miss occurred over the Flevopolder between a Diamond DA-40 NG (PH-EGM) and an HOAC DV-20 Katana (PH-MFT), where the minimum separation dropped to approximately 10 meters.
Other notable events included a runway excursion involving an A-211 Aquila (G-GAEC) at Breda International Airport following a series of bounces during landing, and a misaligned takeoff involving an Embraer EMB-120ER (EC-JBD) at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, which resulted in damage to the aircraft's nose landing gear after striking runway edge lights.
