What happened
During a scheduled cargo operation traveling from Moscow to Yakutsk, an aircraft was performing a multi-stop route including stops in Bratsk and Omsk. The flight was transporting a payload of 10,990 kilograms of various goods, which had not been declared prior to the departure from Moscow. The aircraft was carrying a total of ten people, consisting of seven crew members and three passengers.
While the aircraft was at an altitude of 1,150 meters during its approach to Omsk-Tsentralny Airport, the aircraft experienced a simultaneous failure of all four engines. In response to the loss of power, the pilot initiated a descent to lower the altitude. The aircraft subsequently performed a belly landing in a field covered in snow near the village of Luzino, situated approximately 22 km west of the airport.
Following the initial impact with the ground, the aircraft slid for several dozen meters before striking a car. Despite the significant impact and the fact that the aircraft was damaged beyond repair, there were zero fatalities and zero injuries among the ten occupants.
Findings
- The aircraft experienced a total loss of engine power across all four engines during the approach phase.
