What happened
Prior to departure from Pelengachi Airport, the pilot was informed that adverse weather conditions persisted throughout the intended flight path and that all operations had been suspended. Notwithstanding this warning, the captain proceeded with the flight to Kazhim accompanied by three other crew members.
During the initial climb phase of the single engine airplane, the aircraft reached an altitude between 200 and 300 meters before becoming obscured by cloud cover. Approximately twenty-three minutes into the flight, while operating in conditions of low visibility, the aircraft collided with a mountain slope. The impact caused the plane to disintegrate, and all four crew members were killed in the accident.
Findings
Investigations into the crash highlighted several critical factors. A primary contributing factor was the captain's decision to attempt the flight despite being aware of the hazardous weather and the suspension of operations. Additionally, there was a noted lack of operational oversight by the relevant authorities. The investigation also suggested that the pilot may have been suffering from fatigue due to inadequate rest, and evidence indicated that pilot intoxication played a role in the occurrence of the accident.
