What happened
A single-engine aircraft was performing a scheduled charter service from Olyokminsk to Shushenskoye, which included a planned stop at Zheleznogorsk-Ilimsky. The flight was transporting five people, including two pilots and three employees of a gold mining enterprise.
During the initial climb following departure from Olyokminsk Airport, the aircraft reached an altitude of approximately 70 to 100 meters when the crew observed an abnormal rise in exhaust gas temperature, which reached 570°C. In an attempt to stabilize the engine, the copilot decreased power, but the high temperatures persisted. Shortly thereafter, the engine suffered a complete loss of power. As the aircraft lost airspeed and began to descend, the pilot attempted to execute an emergency landing. The plane ultimately crashed into a heavily forested area situated roughly 600 meters east of the threshold of runway 26. The impact resulted in the destruction of the aircraft, leaving one fatality and four injuries among the occupants.
Findings
- The crew identified a significant increase in exhaust gas temperature during the climb.
- Engine power loss occurred following the failure to stabilize engine temperatures through power reduction.
