What happened

During a flight originating from Cozumel, the crew attempted an ILS/DME2 approach toward Runway 17 at Saltillo-Plan de Guadalupe Airport. As the aircraft progressed on its final approach, the flight crew encountered significantly reduced visibility caused by heavy fog. Although the runway was not visually identified, the descent continued below the minimum descent altitude.

During this phase of the flight, the aircraft type struck power lines before impacting a structure within an industrial park. The collision occurred approximately 1,448 meters short of the runway threshold. The impact and subsequent fire destroyed the aircraft and the building. There were eight fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft. At the time of the incident, horizontal visibility was reported at approximately 800 meters, with vertical visibility at 200 feet.
