What happened
During the final approach to Runway 15 at Porto Seguro-Terravista Golf Club Airport, a twin engine aircraft descended below the required altitude. This low approach resulted in the left main landing gear striking the ground before the aircraft reached the runway threshold.
The force of the impact caused the left main gear to be completely detached from the airframe. Following the separation of the gear, the aircraft continued to slide along the runway for several dozen meters. The movement ended when the plane veered toward the left side of the runway and came to a complete stop.
There were 10 occupants on board the aircraft at the time of the incident. All individuals were able to evacuate the wreckage without injury. While the crew and passengers escaped safely, the aircraft was determined to be a total loss due to the extent of the structural damage.
Findings
- The primary factor in the accident was the excessively low descent profile during the final approach phase.
