What happened
A flight scheduled to deliver an aircraft to Air Congo ended in a fatal crash while approaching Douala Airport. The journey originated in the United States and included planned stops in Prestwick, Monrovia, and Douala. Approximately seven minutes prior to its estimated time of arrival, the twin engine aircraft collided with the slopes of Mount Cameroon, situated roughly 64 km west of the destination airport.
Following the disappearance, search and rescue operations were initiated to locate the missing plane. However, after several days of searching without success, the mission was officially terminated as no debris or signs of the flight could be located. The wreckage of the aircraft remained lost for two years before it was eventually discovered in a remote, isolated region.
Findings
- The crash resulted in three fatalities, involving the pilot and two passengers.
- The impact occurred during the approach phase of the flight.
