What happened
During a night-time medical transport mission, a twin engine aircraft crashed into the sea a short distance from the coast of Neskaupstaður. The flight was operating as an ambulance service, traveling from Reykjavik toward its destination in Neskaupstaður.
As the crew attempted to approach the destination airport, the aircraft encountered adverse weather conditions. During this phase of the flight, the plane became uncontrollable and impacted the water several kilometers off the shoreline. The impact resulted in the loss of the aircraft and two fatalities, as both pilots on board perished in the accident.
