What happened
During an approach to Bursa-Yenisehir Airport, the pilot attempted to land the twin engine aircraft amidst challenging weather conditions. Because of significantly reduced visibility, the pilot could not visually identify the runway lights or the approach path. In response to these conditions, a go-around maneuver was initiated.
While the aircraft was performing a circuit pattern, it collided with the summit of a hill situated in the vicinity of the airport. The impact caused the aircraft to crash. The accident resulted in one fatality and four injuries among the occupants of the plane.
Findings
- The primary factor contributing to the accident was low visibility which prevented the pilot from maintaining visual contact with the necessary approach aids and runway lighting.
