What happened
While performing a final approach into Cleveland-Hopkins Airport, a twin engine aircraft lost control and struck the ground several miles before reaching the runway. At the time of the accident, the area was experiencing marginal weather conditions characterized by fog and a low cloud ceiling.
The impact of the crash resulted in the total destruction of the airframe. There were no survivors among the seven fatalities recorded on board the aircraft.
Findings
Investigations into the accident determined that the primary factor leading to the loss of control was the failure of the right engine, though the specific reason for this mechanical failure remains undetermined.
