What happened
On the evening of the accident, a twin-engine aircraft departed from Maringá Airport at 18:37 local time, bound for São Paulo. The flight was carrying a total of five people, consisting of one pilot and four passengers.
Approximately 35 minutes after takeoff, the aircraft had been cruising at its designated altitude of 21,000 feet for about five minutes when the flight encountered a critical loss of airspeed. The aircraft entered a stall, which led to an uncontrolled descent. During the descent, the plane experienced structural failure as it partially disintegrated mid-air. The aircraft ultimately struck a field in a flat attitude. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft and five fatalities.
Findings
- The aircraft experienced a stall while at its assigned altitude.
- The descent became uncontrolled following the loss of lift.
- In-flight structural disintegration occurred prior to the final impact.
