What happened
A twin-engine aircraft departed from Paramirim Airport at 14:00 local time as part of a three-hour ore prospecting mission. The flight was carrying a crew of two pilots and one passenger. During the mission, the flight encountered deteriorating weather conditions, including windshear and atmospheric turbulence. In response to these conditions, the crew attempted to return to Paramirim.
Following the loss of contact, the aircraft was officially declared missing after 17 hours had passed without communication. Search efforts led to the discovery of the wreckage at 18:00 local time the next day. The debris was located near the summit of Mt Serra Preta, situated approximately 27 km east of Paramirim, in the vicinity of Cascalho. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the twin-engine aircraft and caused three fatalities.
Findings
Preliminary details indicate that the aircraft experienced a stall while navigating through severe turbulence and windshear during the return flight.
