What happened
A medical evacuation mission involving a twin engine aircraft ended in a runway excursion at the Zapopan Air Base. The flight was operating as an ambulance service, transporting two soldiers who were being moved from La Yesca to the air base following a motor vehicle accident. The flight crew consisted of one pilot and the two passengers.
As the aircraft was performing its takeoff roll, it encountered strong crosswinds. These wind conditions caused the plane to lose directional control, leading it to veer toward the right side of the runway. The aircraft eventually exited the paved surface and came to a stop within a nearby wooded area.
Outcomes
While the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss, there were no fatalities or injuries reported among the occupants. All three individuals on board—the pilot and the two passengers—were successfully rescued from the wreckage.
