What happened
While performing a takeoff roll on runway 34, the aircraft reached a velocity of 65 mph. At this point, the pilot attempted to rotate the aircraft by pulling back on the control column. This action caused the nose gear to lift momentarily before making contact with the runway surface again.
Following this unstable rotation, the pilot elected to terminate the takeoff procedure. An emergency braking sequence was initiated; however, because the aircraft had already utilized approximately two-thirds of the available runway length, the stopping distance was insufficient. The aircraft subsequently exited the paved surface and came to a stop in an area characterized by rocks and dense vegetation.
Findings
- All 11 people on board were able to evacuate the aircraft without injury.
- The aircraft sustained damage beyond repair.
- The primary factor in the excursion was the insufficient runway remaining to complete the emergency stop after the rotation attempt.
