What happened

While traveling to Monrovia to attend the anniversary celebrations of the Liberian Army forces, an aircraft carrying a group of high-ranking Guinea Air Force officials crashed near Charlesville. During the final approach phase at Roberts Airport, the aircraft descended below the safe altitude and struck trees in a wooded region situated approximately 4 km from the runway.

The impact and subsequent fire destroyed the aircraft. There were 11 fatalities among the occupants of the plane. The group included several senior military leaders from Guinea.
