What happened
Following the landing sequence at Pitu-Leo Wattimena Airport, a twin engine aircraft experienced a loss of directional control. During the excursion, the plane drifted toward the right side of the runway. The impact of the maneuver caused the left main landing gear to collapse and resulted in the right wing separating at its root.
Despite the severity of the structural damage, all 14 occupants were able to exit the aircraft without injury. The aircraft was subsequently determined to be a total loss due to the extent of the damage sustained during the event.
Findings
- The aircraft veered off the runway after touchdown.
- The loss of control led to the collapse of the left landing gear and structural failure of the right wing.
