What happened
A single-engine aircraft departed from Boituva Aerodrome operating as a local skydiving flight. The flight was carrying a total of 16 people, consisting of one pilot and 15 skydivers. Shortly after takeoff, during the initial climb, the pilot experienced mechanical issues with the engine.
In an effort to manage the engine failure, the pilot attempted to perform an emergency landing in a nearby open field. During this maneuver, the single-engine airplane struck an embankment and then collided with a fence. The sequence of impacts caused the aircraft to come to rest in an inverted position within a grassy area. The accident resulted in two fatalities and nine injuries, while five occupants were able to exit the wreckage without harm. The aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
Findings
The primary factor leading to the crash was the engine problems encountered immediately following takeoff.
