A twin-engine airplane crashed into a residential area near Tampa North Aero Park following a loss of control during initial climb.

What happened

Shortly after departing from Runway 32 at the Tampa North Aero Park, a twin engine airplane began a left-hand turn. As the aircraft reached an altitude of approximately 200 feet, the flight crew lost control of the plane. The aircraft subsequently impacted a backyard of a home situated on Aldus Drive within the Grand Oaks community, which is positioned less than 2 km northwest of the airport.

Following the impact, a fire broke out, resulting in the total destruction of the aircraft. The pilot, who was the only person on board at the time of the accident, was killed in the crash.
