What happened
A twin-engine aircraft operated by STS Avijacija was performing a charter mission from Banja Luka to Tuzla when the accident occurred. The flight was part of a specialized program intended for the vaccination of foxes. During the cruise phase at a low altitude, the plane flew into a cloud layer, which obscured the terrain.
Shortly after entering the clouds, the aircraft struck trees and crashed onto a mountain slope situated near the Monastery of Ozren, in the southeastern region of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The impact caused the plane to burst into flames upon hitting the ground. The flight crew and passengers consisted of one pilot and two passengers. The crash resulted in one fatality and two serious injuries.
Findings
- The aircraft encountered cloud cover while flying at a low altitude.
