Synopsis
The Comisión Investigadora de Accidentes de Aviación (CIAA) of the Dominican Republic was notified of the accident on July 23, 2022. Investigators arrived at the site the following day. A team was formed to evaluate operational, human performance, and airworthiness factors. The investigation is conducted in accordance with ICAO Annex 13.
Flight Information
The aircraft, a Cessna T210 registered as N210DE, was performing an international private flight from Opa-Locka Executive Airport (KOPF) to Gregorio Luperón International Airport (MDPP) in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. While approximately 2 nautical miles from the destination airport, the airplane descended and struck terrain. The terrain was described as flat with irregularities.
Injuries
According to the preliminary report, the aircraft carried two occupants: one pilot and one passenger. Both sustained fatal injuries. No other persons were injured.
Damage
The aircraft was destroyed by impact forces. No significant third-party damage was reported as of the date of the preliminary report.
