On October 11, 2022, a Cessna Citation C501, registration HI-1076, was performing an international flight from Santiago de Cuba José Antonio Maceo Grajales (MUCU) to Dr. Joaquín Balaguer International Airport (MDJB) in Santo Domingo Norte.

Upon landing, the aircraft made contact with the runway approximately 50 meters from the threshold of runway 01. The aircraft failed to come to a halt within the paved surface, continuing its trajectory past the runway 19 end. The aircraft traveled approximately 178 meters through a grassy area before finally coming to a stop in the safety zone. All five occupants (two crew members and three passengers) were able to evacuate the aircraft on their own and sustained no injuries.

The investigation

The Dominican Republic's Aviation Accident Investigation Commission (CIAA) was notified of the serious incident on the day of the occurrence. The investigation focused on the operational and maintenance aspects of the flight. The investigation noted that the aircraft was not equipped with a Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) or Flight Data Recorder (FDR), as these are not required for this aircraft category.

Physical examination of the aircraft revealed minor damage, specifically a dent on the leading edge of the right wing and deflation of the main landing gear tires. Additionally, the incident caused damage to a runway end light at the aerodrome.
