Cessna U206G Accident at Estancia Misterio, Bolivia (CP-1425)

Incident Overview and Flight Details On December 23, 2021, a Cessna U206G aircraft, registration CP-1425, departed from Trinidad aerodrome (SLTR) at 14:54 UTC, bound for Estancia Misterio in the Beni department of Bolivia. The flight carried one pilot and three passengers. The aircraft arrived at its destination at 15:35 UTC. The destination airstrip was reported to be 500 meters long and 20 meters wide, with a surface described as very wet and muddy due to seasonal rains. ## Accident Sequence and Damage During landing, the pilot reported feeling a jolt in the nose gear and left main gear. The aircraft subsequently slid out of control and came to rest on the left side of the runway. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the propeller, nose gear, and left main gear, along with minor damage to the front of the engine cowling and the left wing. All four occupants evacuated the aircraft under their own power and were uninjured. An emergency locator transmitter (ELT) alert was received at 15:50 UTC. ## Aircraft and Personnel Information The aircraft, manufactured in 1978, was powered by a Continental IO-520-F engine and equipped with a McCauley D3A34C404-BC propeller. It was operated by Aero Taxi Loyola and owned by Francisco Arias Diez. The pilot in command was a 73-year-old Bolivian national holding a commercial pilot license with a restriction prohibiting him from acting as a pilot for commercial air transport in accordance with RAB 61.635. He held a valid first-class medical certificate. ## Aerodrome and Environmental Factors The Estancia Misterio airstrip did not have a DGAC registration certificate, and compliance with the technical requirements established in Appendix 8 of RAB 137 was not verified. The airstrip also lacked communication facilities. Meteorological data from SLTR at the time of the incident indicated calm winds, visibility of 9999 meters, broken clouds at 500 feet and 8,000 feet, a temperature of 24°C, and a QNH of 1010 hPa. No evidence of fire was found before or after the impact, and no physiological or incapacitating factors were found to have affected the pilot's performance.
