Negotiations
On September 25 and 26, 2012, delegations from Ecuador and Turkey met in Ankara, Turkey, to negotiate an Air Services Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding in aeronautical matters. The talks were facilitated by the Embassy of Ecuador in Turkey. Both instruments were concluded successfully, setting favorable conditions for the operation of air services, including both passenger and cargo flights, by airlines of both countries.
Delegations
The Turkish delegation was led by Mr. Bilal Eksi, Director General of Civil Aviation, and included other government officials and representatives of Turkish Airlines. The Ecuadorian delegation was headed by Ing. Carlos Jácome, Undersecretary of Civil Aviation and President of the National Council of Civil Aviation, and included Fernando Guerrero, Director General of Civil Aviation; Augusto Saá, Ecuadorian Ambassador in Ankara; and members of the National Council of Civil Aviation.
Next Steps
Following the negotiations, the Ecuadorian delegation was scheduled to hold a working meeting with the Vice President of Turkish Airlines in Istanbul on September 27, 2012. Airlines from both countries have already begun analyzing potential frequencies between cities in Ecuador and Turkey, with possible implementation in the coming months.
