Agreement Reached
On September 27, 2012, officials from the Ecuadorian Civil Aviation Authority and Turkish authorities, together with Turkish Airlines, held talks in Quito to establish an air route between Turkey and Ecuador. The Ecuadorian delegation included Ing. Carlos Jacome, Undersecretary of Civil Aviation, and Fernando Guerrero, Director General of Civil Aviation.
Route and Fleet
Turkish Airlines, described as a leading European airline with a fleet of approximately 180 aircraft, plans to launch the new route in the coming months. The service will cater to both passenger and cargo traffic, opening new markets for Ecuador and Turkey.
Context
The agreement is part of Ecuador's National Airport Modernization Plan, which aims to strengthen international aviation relations. The Ecuadorian aviation authority is committed to developing the country's aviation sector through partnerships with nations worldwide.
