What happened

On the flight path from Tokyo-Haneda to Hong Kong, which included a scheduled stop at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, an aircraft struck a mountain slope. The incident occurred approximately 32 km northwest of Taitung, Taiwan. At the time of the collision, the aircraft was maintaining a cruising altitude of 9,000 feet.

The impact with the terrain resulted in the total destruction of the airframe. There were 14 fatalities and no survivors among the occupants on board.
