What happened
A sightseeing flight operating out of Berlin-Schönefeld Airport experienced a serious incident during its initial climb phase. The aircraft, carrying 25 passengers and three crew members, was performing a scheduled 35-minute tour of the Berlin area when the flight crew identified a technical malfunction involving the right engine.
In response to the engine failure, the pilots attempted to perform an emergency landing. During this maneuver, the aircraft type struck the perimeter fence at the edge of the airport. The impact caused the aircraft to crash land on its belly, which resulted in the right wing being partially severed. Despite the severity of the impact, all 28 occupants managed to evacuate the wreckage without any reported injuries.
Findings
The primary factor leading to the crash landing was technical issues with the right engine encountered immediately after departure.
