What happened
During an approach to Monrovia-James Spriggs Payne Airport, the aircraft encountered severe weather characterized by heavy rainfall and significantly reduced visibility. While on final approach, the aircraft made contact with the ground before reaching the runway threshold. The impact was forceful enough to separate the undercarriage from the airframe.
Following the initial impact, the aircraft continued to slide along its fuselage for approximately 500 metres. The movement ended once the aircraft reached the runway surface. Despite the severity of the impact and the resulting structural damage, all 91 occupants managed to evacuate the aircraft without injury. The aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
Findings
