What happened
During an approach to Jeju Airport from Seoul, the flight encountered significantly degraded weather conditions. As the crew proceeded with the descent, visibility became severely restricted. While operating in these low-visibility conditions, the aircraft collided with the northern slope of Mt Hallasan, located approximately 13 km south of the destination airport.
The impact occurred within a densely forested canyon area. Search efforts located the wreckage in the wooded terrain, but the crash resulted in 53 fatalities, with no survivors reported among the occupants.
