What happened
During a period of low-altitude flight, the aircraft experienced a sudden failure of one of its engines. This mechanical malfunction led to a loss of control by the crew, making it impossible to maintain stable flight. The aircraft subsequently descended into a region characterized by hilly and heavily wooded terrain.
Upon impact with the ground, the aircraft caught fire. The accident resulted in the deaths of 14 people, specifically comprising 4 crew members and 10 paratroopers who were on board at the time of the crash.
Findings
- The primary factor leading to the loss of control was an engine failure occurring while the aircraft was at a low altitude.
