Incident Overview
On 14 October 2024, a pilot was preparing for a balloon flight with passengers. During a routine parachute check—an inspection of the upper valve system—the balloon briefly developed lift and rose slightly off the ground. The balloon helper, who was positioned on the outside of the basket rim, was propelled backward from the basket and fell to the ground.
Injuries and Damage
The balloon helper sustained a back injury, specifically a vertebral fracture. The balloon itself remained undamaged throughout the incident. Following the occurrence, the planned balloon flight was not undertaken.

Authorities investigated the incident. No probable cause was stated in the official report.
