What happened
On February 2, 2022, at approximately 21:45 UTC, a Pull 0-2250 kg aircraft, registration LV-X753, was involved in a ground incident at Comodoro Rivadavia Airport in Chubut, Argentina. The aircraft was performing a general aviation flight under visual flight rules (VMC) and was taxiing toward the active runway head.
While the aircraft was maneuvering on the taxiway, a sudden gust of wind caused the pilot to lose control of the aircraft's direction. This loss of control resulted in the propeller making contact with the taxiway surface. The impact caused significant damage to the aircraft, though no injuries were reported for the occupant.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the sequence of events during the taxi phase at Comodoro Rivadavia Airport. Investigators examined the environmental conditions at the time of the incident and the aircraft's movement relative to the taxiway surface. The inquiry established that the aircraft was in the process of taxiing to the runway head when the external weather factor intervened.
