What happened
On December 4, 2025, a Robinson R44 helicopter, registration LV-JKR, departed from the Dr. Alfredo Lanari helipad bound for San Fernando International Airport. The aircraft was conducting a private flight with three occupants on board. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot experienced a loss of engine power.
In response to the power loss, the pilot attempted an emergency landing within the tennis court area of Parque Manuel Belgrano in Buenos Aires. During the final stages of the maneuver, a main rotor blade struck a light pole located within the park. This impact caused the helicopter to become unstable, resulting in the aircraft crashing onto its left side. The impact caused substantial damage to the airframe.
The investigation
The preliminary investigation focused on the sequence of events following the takeoff and the mechanical state of the powerplant.
