What happened
On November 1, 2025, at approximately 19:20 UTC, an IAR BRASOV IS28 B2 glider, registration LV-DLS, was conducting a flight training mission at the Esperanza Aerodrome in the province of Santa Fe. During the final approach phase of the flight, the aircraft struck a perimeter fence post located roughly 230 meters from runway 06. The impact occurred while the aircraft was operating in a non-commercial flight training capacity.
The investigation
The Argentine Transportation Safety Board (JST) has initiated an investigation into the event. Preliminary data indicates that the aircraft, which was being operated by a flying club, suffered substantial damage due to the collision. The investigation is currently examining the aircraft's operational parameters, specifically focusing on how the center of gravity and weight distribution may have influenced the glider's performance during the approach. Additionally, investigators are reviewing the flight planning processes associated with the training session.
Findings
- The aircraft struck a perimeter fence post during the final approach.
- The collision resulted in substantial damage to the IAR BRASOV IS28 B2.
