What happened
On September 23, 2023, at approximately 20:20 UTC, a private Cessna 560V, registered as LV-COV, was involved in a ground incident at San Fernando International Airport (SADF) in Buenos Aires. The aircraft was performing taxi operations from the hangar apron toward the active runway head. During this movement, the left main landing gear veered off the paved surface and entered the adjacent green area next to taxiway Alpha. The gear became embedded in the soft ground, causing the aircraft to come to a complete stop.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the movement of the aircraft during the taxi phase of flight. It was established that the incident occurred while the aircraft was transitioning from the hangar area to the departure position. The physical position of the aircraft was recorded at coordinates 34° 27’ 18″ S and 58° 1’ 35″ W. There were no injuries reported for the two occupants on board, and no damage was recorded to the aircraft following the event.
Findings
- The aircraft's left main landing gear entered the unpaved grass area adjacent to taxiway Alpha.
- The soft nature of the terrain caused the landing gear to become buried, resulting in the immobilization of the aircraft.
