What happened
On October 12, 2023, a private Beechcraft Hawker G5/58, registration LV-JWX, was conducting a general aviation ferry flight from Bragado to San Fernando International Airport. During the approach and landing phase on runway 05, the aircraft made contact with the runway surface while the landing gear remained in the retracted position. The impact caused substantial damage to the propellers of both engines and the forward lower section of the fuselage. The single occupant on board sustained minor injuries.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the circumstances surrounding the landing at San Fernando International Airport. Investigators examined the flight sequence, noting that the aircraft was operating under Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) at the time of the incident. The technical assessment confirmed that the primary issue was the failure to extend the landing gear prior to touchdown, which led to the structural and propeller damage.
