What happened
On December 22, 2021, a Tecnam P-2008JC, registration LV-FQS, was performing a general aviation recreational flight from Jesús María to Córdoba. During the landing phase at Ing. Ambrosio Taravella International Airport, the aircraft experienced a burst of the right main landing gear tire. Despite the sudden failure, the aircraft remained under control and sustained no structural damage upon completion of the landing.
The investigation
The Argentine Transportation Safety Board (JST) reviewed the technical details of the incident, focusing on the mechanical failure of the tire component. Investigators examined the aircraft's condition following the event and the specific circumstances of the landing at the Córdoba aerodrome. The investigation focused on whether the failure of the tire component posed a broader risk to flight safety.
Findings
- The primary cause of the incident was a failure of the right main gear tire.
- There were no injuries reported for the crew or the passenger.
- The aircraft did not sustain any secondary damage during the event.
