What happened
On March 10, 2023, a Cessna 150-L, registration LV-CFM, was performing taxi operations at Ing. Ambrosio Taravella International Airport in Córdoba, Argentina. The aircraft, operated by a private owner for general aviation training purposes, was taxiing toward the runway threshold in preparation for takeoff. During this phase of flight, the pilot experienced a deflation of a main landing gear tire. Following the loss of pressure, the pilot successfully returned the aircraft to the apron.
The investigation
Investigators from the JST examined the incident to determine the nature of the mechanical failure and its impact on flight safety. The technical review focused on the condition of the aircraft following the event. The investigation confirmed that the incident was limited to a component malfunction and did not involve the engine group. The aircraft sustained minor damage as a result of the deflation.
Findings
- The primary cause of the incident was a malfunction of a single component, specifically the deflation of a main gear tire.
- There were no injuries reported for the crew or any occupants.
- The event did not pose a threat to operational safety, as the aircraft was able to return to the platform without further incident.
