What happened
On the afternoon of an unspecified date, an Aeroitba Petrel 912 with registration LV-FWK departed from the Chascomus aeroclub, bound for the General Rodriguez aerodrome. During the cruise phase of the flight, while over the rural area of Marcos Paz, the pilot experienced a sudden loss of engine power.
In response to the powerplant failure, the pilot identified a clear field and executed an emergency landing. While the aircraft maintained a controlled descent and contact with the terrain was managed, the presence of dense vegetation caused substantial damage to both the fuselage and the aircraft's structure. The aircraft was subsequently removed from service and sent to a workshop for repairs.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the mechanical performance of the engine during the cruise phase. The aircraft, powered by a Rotax 912 F2 engine, was operating under visual meteorological conditions with high visibility. The investigation confirmed that the pilot successfully executed the emergency procedure, resulting in no injuries to the two occupants on board.
