What happened
On April 4, 2025, a Cessna 210N, registration LV-KHD, was performing a non-scheduled private flight in La Esmeralda, Buenos Aires, when it experienced an abnormal contact with the runway. The aircraft was in the approach phase of flight when the incident occurred on the grass airstrip. The impact occurred at an estimated speed of 45 knots, causing the aircraft to travel approximately 35 meters along the surface. While the aircraft sustained substantial damage, there were no injuries reported for the two occupants on board.
The investigation
The preliminary investigation focused on the landing gear system and the circumstances surrounding the aircraft's contact with the ground. Investigators examined the aircraft's configuration and the flight conditions at the time of the event, noting that the flight was conducted under Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) in daylight. The investigation also reviewed the maintenance records of the Cessna 210N, which showed the aircraft was current and had a total time of 1,926.4 hours. The scope of the inquiry includes the landing gear position and warning systems to determine why the contact with the runway was abnormal.
