What happened
On April 16, 2022, at 16:15 UTC, a Piper PA-28-180, registration LV-LNA, was performing a general aviation pleasure flight at Neuquén Airport (SAZN) in Neuquén, Argentina. The aircraft was operating on a local itinerary, departing from and returning to the same aerodrome. During the landing phase on runway 09, the aircraft experienced a mechanical issue involving the landing gear assembly.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the mechanical state of the aircraft's landing gear during the approach and touchdown. It was established that while the aircraft was in the process of landing, the right main landing gear door underwent a deflation event. The flight was conducted under Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC).
