What happened
On May 4, 2021, at approximately 14:00 UTC, a Cessna 152, registration LV-BRF, was conducting a general aviation instruction flight departing from Presidente Rivadavia Aerodrome in Buenos Aires. Shortly after departing from runway 20, while the aircraft was climbing through an altitude of 200 feet, the right wing struck a bird.
Following the impact, the instructor in command elected to return to the aerodrome as a precautionary measure. The aircraft landed safely without further incident.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the sequence of events during the initial climb phase and the physical impact on the airframe. The examination confirmed that the strike occurred at a low altitude during the departure phase of the training flight.
