What happened
On August 15, 2020, a Cessna TU 206 H, registration LV-ZXR, was conducting a general aviation executive flight from Corrientes Airport to Córdoba Airport. While the aircraft was in the cruise phase of its flight, the engine experienced a significant power loss, which subsequently led to a complete engine shutdown. Due to the loss of propulsion, the pilot was forced to perform an emergency landing in an unprepared area at Estancia Cerro Solo, located in the La Puerta region of Córdoba.
The investigation
The Argentine Transportation Safety Board (JST) conducted a technical investigation into the incident. The inquiry focused on the circumstances surrounding the engine failure and the subsequent condition of the aircraft following the landing. The investigation examined the flight path, the mechanical state of the power plant, and the operational procedures in place during the cruise phase.
