What happened
On July 5, 2025, a Tecnam P2/02, registration LV-S088, was performing a non-commercial pleasure flight departing from San Fernando International Airport in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The flight was scheduled to proceed to the Cañuelas aerodrome.
While taxiing along Alpha taxiway toward the runway 05 threshold, the aircraft experienced a puncture in the right main landing gear tire, resulting in a total loss of tire pressure. The pilot notified air traffic control of the situation and requested permission to return to the hangar via the same taxiway. After advancing approximately 30 meters, the pilot encountered difficulties maintaining directional control of the aircraft due to the flat tire. Consequently, the pilot brought the aircraft to a halt and reported that the plane could no longer proceed under its own power. The aircraft was subsequently coordinated for towing to the hangar area.
The investigation
The investigation was conducted as a desk investigation. According to the pilot's report, the tire casing was replaced, and no further damage to the aircraft was identified during the repair process. Following the tire replacement, the aircraft was returned to service.
Findings
- The primary cause of the incident was a puncture of the right main gear tire during taxi operations.
- The loss of tire pressure led to a loss of directional control, preventing the aircraft from completing the taxi to the runway.
