What happened
On August 14, 2023, at 12:50 UTC, a Beechcraft BE 58, registration LV-FKN, was conducting a general aviation transport flight from Aeródromo San Guillermo Vergnano to Aeródromo Piquete Cabado in the Salta province. Following a successful landing at Piquete Cabado, the aircraft was in the process of braking on the runway when the landing gear unexpectedly retracted.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the mechanical sequence of events occurring during the landing roll. The aircraft, operated privately, was performing a routine transfer flight under visual meteorological conditions (VMC). The investigation established that the incident occurred specifically during the braking phase of the landing operation.
Findings
- The primary factor in the incident was the unintended retraction of the landing gear while the aircraft was still on the ground and undergoing braking.
- The aircraft sustained damage of significant importance as a result of the gear retraction during the landing roll.
