What happened
The aircraft departed from Rosières-en-Santerre Airfield with the objective of reaching England. During the final approach to Watton, the plane was flying at a low height when it came under attack from the ground. The impact of the fire caused the machine to crash in the area of Scoulton.
The accident resulted in significant loss of life aboard the aircraft. Three members of the crew lost their lives in the incident, while a fourth individual sustained serious injuries. The deceased included the pilot, an observer, and a radio operator. A mechanic on board survived with severe wounds.
