What happened
A training mission originating from São Paulo-Congonhas was en route to Ribeirão Preto-Leite Lopes Airport when the accident occurred. The flight was operated with a crew of five, which included both an instructor and pilots. While performing the final segment of the approach to runway 18, the aircraft experienced a sudden roll to the right side. This movement caused the tip of the right wing to make contact with the runway surface.
In an attempt to recover from the roll, the pilot-in-command applied a correction that resulted in the aircraft losing control. The aircraft traveled approximately 420 meters beyond the initial point of impact before crashing and catching fire. The accident resulted in five fatalities, with no survivors among the crew members.
Findings
The sequence of events indicates that the overcorrection by the pilot following the initial wing-tip strike was a critical factor in the loss of control and the subsequent impact.
