What happened
A twin-engine aircraft, operated by Skaidens on behalf of the Ukrainska Shkola Pilotov, was conducting a local skydiving operation when it crashed near Borodyanka Aerodrome. The flight carried a total of 22 people, including two pilots and 20 skydivers. Following departure from the airfield, the crew observed deteriorating weather conditions characterized by an approaching thunderstorm. In response to the worsening weather, the crew elected to abort the mission and return to the airport.
During the final approach phase, the aircraft encountered intense atmospheric disturbances, specifically downdrafts and a microburst. These conditions caused the plane to lose altitude rapidly, resulting in an impact in a field located approximately 900 meters before the runway threshold. The accident resulted in five fatalities among the skydivers, while the remaining 17 occupants sustained injuries, with several individuals suffering serious harm.
