What happened

Following departure from the Medellín-Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport via runway 01, the crew began a right-hand turn while maintaining a climb. During this ascent, the twin engine aircraft collided with the terrain on the slope of Mt El Silenced, located in the vicinity of San Antonio de Prado. The impact occurred at an altitude of approximately 9,200 feet. The collision and subsequent fire caused the total destruction of the airframe. There were 16 fatalities among the occupants of the flight.
