What happened

On a scheduled mail delivery mission for the National Romanian Postal Service, an aircraft was traveling from Bucharest-Băneasa Airport to Iaşi. The flight was carrying 310 kilograms of mail and was operated by a crew consisting of two pilots.

While approaching runway 15, the flight crew encountered degraded visibility caused by adverse weather. Consequently, the crew decided to abort the initial approach and began a go-around procedure. During the subsequent second attempt to land, the aircraft reached an altitude of 2,700 feet. At this stage, the crew notified air traffic control of their intention to perform a right turn outbound. However, the aircraft instead entered a left-hand circuit. During this maneuver, the plane descended into a wooded area situated approximately 300 meters west of the control tower. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft.
